The people of Orange County need a Mayor who works as hard as they do.  Bill Segal spent a lifetime in this community working long hours, seven days a week, to build successful businesses that created jobs.  In 2004, he put business aside to become an Orange County Commissioner.  In just six years on the commission, he built a strong track record of saving jobs, fighting to make our neighborhoods safer and cutting the cost and size of county government.

Bill slashed the budget without sacrificing public safety. In fact, the county added 156 new deputies and sheriff’s office staff to make our streets safer.  When the federal government warned it might relocate thousands of high paying jobs from the Central Florida Research Park, Bill worked to secure the funding needed to upgrade the Park.  As a result, the $5 billion a year industry and its 14,000 jobs stayed put in Orange County.

Bill has worked in business his whole life, doing everything from opening a chain of restaurants to managing general contracting work. Bill was even one of the first investors in the Sci-Fi Channel.  All that time watching budgets and making smart cost-benefit decisions helped him make good decisions for our community as a Commissioner.

He’ll continue to help make those good decisions as your Mayor.  They’re even more difficult in this economic climate, but Bill loves this area and is committed to making it the kind of place our children and grandchildren want to return to and raise their families. We have a great airport, university, climate and people.  Bill has the experience as a manager, the plan and the leadership to move Orange County forward.
